After separating last year, Michael Fishman and his wife Jennifer Briner are officially divorcing.
The wife of Roseanne Barr’s TV son, 37, filed divorce documents on Monday, according to TMZ. It’s unclear as to what caused the decision, but according to sources for the outlet, it was an amicable one.
He also told the site that they took their daughters to lunch after the filing to show them just how well they will co-parent.
Michael, who starred on ABC’s The Conners, has been dealing with relationship woes since June of 2017, but the couple put their split on hold after Roseanne was canceled.
At first, the parents, who’ve been married since 1999, chose to only separate and not fully divorce, in order to keep Jennifer on the actor’s health insurance.
‘Among the reasons for not getting a regular divorce is the shared desire to keep Jenny [Briner] covered by my health insurance, and allow to slowly unfold our 20 years together in a way mutually beneficial for our family, particularly on behalf of our children,’ Fishman said.
Michael and Jennifer wed when he was just 18 years old.
The former couple have two children together.
They are seeking joint legal and physical custody of their 16-year-old daughter Isabella, according to The Blast.
Michael rose to fame as a child actor playing D.J. Conner on Roseanne from 1988 to 1997.
He later reprised the role for last year’s reboot and on The Conners spin-off, which brought back the entire cast except Roseanne Barr.
While ABC had renewed Roseanne for another season, it was abruptly canceled in 2018 in the wake of a racially insensitive tweet from Barr.
