The advent of electric scooters and brands
A modern play on the street scooters, the latest transit 2.0 systems are powered by a rechargeable battery, rent by the minute to commuters and in some instances can be left wherever the rider desires. These electric scooters and e-bike systems have popped up in cities around Canada and are seemingly to grow in a matter of time. To some, these are seen as a salvation to the unending chaos and congestion of the urban commuting nightmare, while some people are feeling the miseries of a proper system on urban living.
Private companies that go by the name of Lime, Spin, Bird, Divy, CitiBike, are manufacturing and planning to launch docked and dock-less bike and scooter systems in various cities of Canada. The production rollout has been in direct partnership with cities and government organizations as they look to expand the micro-transit infrastructure around surrounding neighborhoods.
